I'm a graduating senior journalism major in the Diederich College of Communication at Marquette University in Milwaukee originally from San Diego. I've interned with the Washington Post, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, U-T San Diego, the Star Tribune, am an alumna of the New York Times Student Journalism Institute and completed an independent study with Milwaukee Neighborhood News Service. I'm also alumna of the Chips Quinn Scholars program, National Association of Black Journalists Student Projects and the Online News Association Student Newsroom. I helped found and became president of the NABJ student chapter on campus my freshman year and ran for national student representative during summer 2011. In 2011 I was named a Patch.com 30 Under 30 for San Diego County and in 2013 named the NABJ Student Journalist of the Year. After graduating in May 2013 I'll be headed to the Seattle Times as a summer metro intern. I launched InHue, an online health publication for women of color in 2013.
